Bohinj Ski Touring Festival 2026: where the Spirit of the Ibex watches over the mountains even in winter

5–8 March 2026 | Bohinj, Julian Alps

Before we meet again on the September trails of I Feel Slovenia Julian Alps Trail Run by UTMB, we invite you into a winter landscape — but a familiar story. The Bohinj Ski Touring Festival is the winter, boutique “younger brother” of JAT by UTMB. The event takes place in the same geographical and value-driven space of the Julian Alps, but with a different focus: less on results and more on knowledge, experience, and responsible movement in the mountains.

TSF is not a classic competitive event. It is a winter environment for building foundations — physical, technical, and mental — and a natural continuation of the philosophy JAT cultivates in summer: respect for the environment, community, and a high-quality outdoor experience. In addition to ski touring, the festival also includes winter trail running and other forms of mountain movement, adapted to winter conditions and participant safety.

What does the TSF 2026 programme offer?

Guided ski touring tours

A variety of tours in the Bohinj area, adapted to different skill levels, led by experienced guides with a strong focus on safe movement in the mountains. More information: https://tsf.bohinj.si/en/tours/

4-day Triglav Ski Touring Traverse

Evening gatherings and community The festival is not only about movement, but also a space for connection, exchange of experiences, and stories born in the mountains.

Who is the festival for?

  • ski tourers (beginners and experienced),
  • trail and mountain runners who see winter as part of their preparation for the upcoming season,
  • mountaineering and outdoor enthusiasts,
  • all winter lovers who value knowledge, safety, nature, and community.

The same story. A different season. Just like I Feel Slovenia Julian Alps Trail Run by UTMB, the Bohinj Ski Touring Festival is rooted in respect for the rhythm of the mountains, their silence, and the truth of the terrain. It does not seek shortcuts and does not promise easy paths. In winter, the same landscape reveals itself differently — more raw, more demanding, but also more honest.

If in summer the Spirit of the Ibex watches over the ridgelines, in winter that same spirit demands even greater focus, responsibility, and patience. TSF is a space where this relationship with the mountains does not fade with the change of seasons, but deepens. Winter in Bohinj is therefore not a departure from the JAT story, but its quiet continuation. It is preparation and attunement. Respect for the landscape that comes alive again in summer beneath running footsteps.

This story does not belong to a single event or a single season. It is the story of runners, ski tourers, and all who return to the mountains throughout the year with the same respect. Where the Spirit of the Ibex stands guard.
