People of JAT supported by I Feel Slovenia

Real experiences from the Julian Alps Trail Run

What does I Feel Slovenia Julian Alps Trail Run by UTMB really feel like? These are stories from the trails, told by the runners who lived them. Night starts and long climbs. Silent ridgelines. Aid stations full of strangers who feel like family. Moments of doubt, moments of flow, and the quiet decision to keep moving.

Each video below offers a personal perspective on what it means to run JAT — across different distances, different outcomes, and different inner battles. Some reached the finish line. Some didn’t. All of them experienced the Julian Alps in their own way.

  • 120k

Andrej Vištica - 3rd place at I feel Slovenia 120k

As darkness falls, runners gather in Radovljica for the start of the longest JAT race. Watch how Andrej Vištica took on 120 kilometres and more than 5,800 metres of elevation at last year’s event.

Note: the video is in Croatian.

Domenico describes the 120K as “a journey you don’t expect” — fast and fluid at night, slow and relentless by day. Click above to experience the race through his eyes.

Alan’s race ended at kilometer 93. Defeated by the Karawanks, as he puts it — but with an even stronger desire to return and finish what he started.

  • 80k

Chris from Australia captured his 80K journey from the iconic start at Lake Bled, up to the highest peak of the Karawanks, Stol — passing cows, donkeys, and unforgettable alpine landscapes along the way. A true reflection of the race atmosphere.

Watch Ema’s 10-minute video from the trails and feel why her quote captures the true spirit of JAT by UTMB: _“People from the nearby villages came to support us, even in the dead of night, even on windy, exposed hilltops. Little kids gave us high-fives, people rang cow bells, teenagers made Mexican waves as we passed. And even though it was almost midnight, the finish line was crowded with people, who cheered every Walking Dead zombie, who managed to stumble across. Thank you, people of Kranjska Gora, for a beautiful race. It was my third time participating and it has been a pleasure every time.” _

“It was an absolutely beautiful race — and when I say beautiful, mate, I mean stunning. Would I recommend UTMB Slovenia Julian Alps? Absolutely. Just not as your first race. The climbs are intense, but it’s worth every step.”

Dan brought van life with his wife and daughter all the way to Julian Alps. See how his daughter ran into his arms in the middle of the night supporting him.

  • 50k

Get inspired for the 50k with Miran Bole’s Sky Trail experience and the breathtaking nature shots he captured along the route.

Renato’s video is pure race-day energy. It opens with one of Slovenia’s most famous folk songs, “Slovenija, od kod lepote tvoje” (“Slovenia, where does your beauty come from?”), paired with stunning shots from the trails and one of race’s highlights, Golica peak (1,835 m).

  • 25k

“The UTMB Julian Alps trail run in Slovenia. 25 kilometers through mountains, fog, and silence. The kind of day that feels both impossible and inevitable once it starts.” Watch Bianca’s conquering of three climbs.

Łukasz knows this route well — this was his third time running here. If you want an experienced perspective on the trail, this is one to watch.
